Madhya Pradesh Governor and former BJP MP Lalji Tandon passed away Tuesday morning after a delayed disease. He was 85. Tandon’s son, Ashutosh Tandon, who is a minister in the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, declared his father’s demise on Twitter.His son, reported his father demise on Twitter with the message “babuji nahi rahe (my dad has died)”.
Tandon had been undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow since 11 June. His condition disintegrated Monday night, reports said. Tandon had been put on ventilator support following grumblings in regards to trouble in breathing, fever and different confusions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his condolences: “Shri Lalji Tandon will be remembered for his untiring efforts to serve society. He played a key role in strengthening the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. He made a mark as an effective administrator, always giving importance of public welfare. Anguished by his passing away.”
Born on April 12, 1935, Mr. Lalji Tandon was a member of the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature Council for two terms and a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly thrice. He has served as a Minister in the State’s government. Besides, he was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha from the Lucknow constituency in 2009, and later appointed the Governor of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
Considering his exacerbating health, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel was given additional charge of Madhya Pradesh earlier this month.
